Technology Challenge - Making a raft

Taking the design of a Mokihi as inspiration, the children all designed their own raft. It had to be the size of an A4 piece of paper and needed to be strong enough to support 20 plastic maths teddies while floating in the sand tray. On Friday afternoon, after running the Cross Country in the morning, the room was a hive of activity with everyone creating their rafts from a wide variety of materials.
We had a lot of fun testing our designs this week. Most of the rafts floated. For those that didn't, all of the children were able to suggest modifications to make them more successful.

Moving to our new Room

Friday, the 6th May was a very busy day. After the Anzac Day Church service, we all packed up the classroom ready to move to the old Room 5 while Mokihi gets redeveloped.

Anzac Day Church Service

At the end of the first week of Term 2, we all took part in a special Anzac Day Church service. Toby and Islah S placed poppies in a wreath to remember all those who had served in wars. Isla R's sister Caitlin did an amazing job of playing the Last Post on her trumpet for the service.

Our new space

We had a fantastic day in our new space. We will make a few minor changes over the next few days to 'tweak' the environment further. The children coped so well with the all of the changes.
